Brad Austin Appointed to GANA Board of Directors
The Glass Association of North America (GANA) has announced the appointment of Brad Austin of Viracon as an officer on its board of directors. Austin will begin serving as secretary and will eventually become president of the association in 2008.

“Brad brings a new and exciting viewpoint to the board,” said Dennis Csehi, GANA president, of Atwood Mobile Products. “I look forward to working with Brad in our continuing efforts to increase the already excellent quality of GANA for our members.”

Austin has spent his entire career with Viracon, starting in 1978 in sales. In 1985, he was named director of architectural sales, and was later named vice president and general manager of Marcon Coatings, another Apogee company, for 18 months before returning to Viracon.

“From my past association with GANA, participating in Glass Week and the BEC division program committee, it is very rewarding to be nominated to the GANA board of directors, so that I can further support our GANA members and help focus our efforts on the issues facing the industry,” said Austin.

KM Systems Names Hewitt as New Vice President
Marty Licciardello, president of Monroe, N.C.-based KM Systems Inc., a manufacturer of automatic pedestrian doors, has announced the appointment of David Hewitt as the new vice president. 

Previously, Hewitt served as vice president of engineering and new product development at Horton Automatics Inc. In his new role Hewitt will be responsible for product development and manufacturing. He has more than 20 years of experience in product developments.

Glazelock Shims Appoints New Sales and Marketing Manager
Glazelock Shims of Peotone, Ill., has announced the appointment of Lauri Martin as its new sales and marketing manager. Martin has 13 years of experience in marketing, and was employed previously with Levi Strauss & Co. as a marketing coordinator. 

In her new position Martin will be responsible for sales, marketing and administrative duties.

Alcoa Announces Personnel Changes
Alcoa Extruded Construction Products (AECP), the building and construction division of Alcoa Engineered Products (AEP), has announced several personnel changes.

Jeff Henderson has been promoted to the position of sales director. Henderson joined the company in January 2003 as a regional sales manager, and in his new role is responsible for all five AECP plants, which are in Plant City, Fla., Tifton, Ga., Delhi, La., Warren, Ohio, and Yankton, S.D.

Tim Murchison is a new sales application engineer. He has more than 27 years of service with Alcoa, and most recently served as design and drafting supervisor there. His territory includes Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri.

Donald E. Reymers has been named regional sales manager for the Northern Florida territory. He was with Alcoa for 18 years before retiring in 2001 as sales manager in Plant City, Fla. He has since re-joined the company to handle this area.

New to the company is Gary Tongco. He is representing AECP in Northern Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Steve Tongco is also a new representative. He will be handling South Carolina, Georgia, Southern Alabama and the Florida panhandle.

Another new regional sales manager is Jason Weber. His primary territory includes Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. He will also be responsible for the Western United States and Canada. He has been with Alcoa 
since 1996.

John Sanders, who was the sales manager for Tifton Aluminum, has announced his retirement. His responsibilities included the territories now handled by Gary and Steve Tongco.

Kaba Re-Organizes Sales Management 
Kaba Access Control of Winston-Salem, N.C., has reorganized its U.S. sales regions. It has changed from three U.S. territories to two—Eastern and Western. The previous Central region has been incorporated into the two. The Canadian sales organization will remain the same.

Rick Eisen, who served as Central regional sales manager, has moved into the role of security systems consultant for North America, serving both the United States and Canada.

Regional sales manager for the East is Dick Garofano and for the West is Bob Carr. Mike Burnie is the sales manager for Canada.

Extech®/Exterior Technologies Promotes Murray
Exterior Technologies Inc., a skylight manufacturer based in Pittsburgh, has appointed Tom Murray as its new general manager. His experience includes directing architectural projects with Forms + Surfaces LLC, along with managing an engineered solutions organization with Mine Safety Appliances Co.’s instrument division.
Murray has a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and a master’s degree in business administration from Waynesburg College.

FTI Announces David Fletcher as its New President
David Fletcher has joined Film Technologies International (FTI) of St. Petersburg, Fla., as its new president and board member. Prior to joining FTI he served as president of Bekaert Specialty Films. He also has served as president of the Association of Industrial Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators, with his last six years on the board. He has a bachelor’s degree in polymer science and technology and a master’s degree in business administration. 

“The hiring of David Fletcher signals the start of a transition in the top management of FTI and the next phase of the company’s long history,” said Don Wheeler, FTI retiring president. 

Wheeler will remain as chairman of the board, concentrating on strategic matters. Frank Miro, who is retiring as vice president, technical and operations, will also remain on the board and consult on technical matters.

Harmon Announces New Sales Manager and Rep; Two Project Managers 
Harmon Inc. has announced four new employees: one sales manager, two project managers and one sales representative. 

Steve Market has joined as the new sales manager. Prior to joining Harmon, Market was with Palen/Kimball Co. in St. Paul, Minn., where he served for ten years in sales. His most recent position was that of vice president of sales and marketing.

Ted Stewart has joined the company’s Baltimore office as a senior project manager for Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., and Douglas Barnes Jr. is a new project manager at the company’s Lombard, Ill., office.

Stewart has nearly 20 years of experience in project and estimating management and most recently served as a project manager for Enclos Corp. Barnes has previous experience in sales and estimating with Trainor Glass Co. and, prior to that, with Hartz Construction.

In addition, Joseph Gyuran is a new sales representative for the company’s Detroit office. Gyuran has 30 years of experience in the glass industry, most recently working with Harmon Autoglass.

Arch Aluminum Announces Additions to Indianapolis Team
Arch Aluminum & Glass of Tamarac, Fla., has announced three new members to its Indianapolis team: Matt Murray, Paul Drake and Quent Hammon.

Murray will be responsible for outside sales in Central and Northern Indiana, as well as Eastern Illinois. He has previous experience in sales and management. 

Drake will be responsible for Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio, as well as parts of Kentucky. Drake was previously with Kawneer for five years.

Hammon is the new branch metal manager and has more than 30 years of experience.

Solutia Inc. Announces Two New Hires
Nanette McElman has joined St. Louis-based Solutia Inc. as hurricane market manager and Robert Spozarski has joined as the new lead market development manager, North America.

McElman’s professional experience includes more than ten years of consulting for both civil and environmental engineering firms. Most recently she served as director of building codes and engineering for the Institute for Business and Home Safety. She has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the University of South Florida.
 
Spozarski has more than 18 years of experience in the glass and glazing industry. Prior to joining Solutia he served as an architectural product specialist and regional sales manager for TRACO. He has a bachelor’s degree in business management/engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in business from Carnegie Mellon University.

Darren Richmond Joins Morse Industries
Morse Industries of Kent, Wash., has announced the hiring of Darren Richmond as the new Los Angeles account manager.

Richmond joins the company from the health care industry, and has experience in sales management, account management and direct sales.
