Viracon Breaks Ground for New Plant in St. George, Utah
Viracon, with headquarters in Owatonna, Minn., has officially begun construction of its new St. George, Utah, facility. A ground breaking ceremony took place May 16 at the new site, 1630 East Park Industrial Drive (4500 South), Ft. Pierce Industrial Park. Viracon expects the new facility will increase glass fabrication capacity by approximately $40 million at full capacity.

Once fully operational (which it is expected to be within three years), the facility will employ between 250-300.

According to president Don Pyatt the plant will be a comprehensive, full-fabrication facility, complete with two insulating glass lines, as well as tempering, laminating, coating and silk-screening production lines.

MERO Becomes Novum Structures

MERO Structures Inc., a glazed-structures design, engineering and installation company headquartered in Menomonee Falls, Wis., has launched of a new corporate image, Novum Structures. The new name is part of the company’s comprehensive re-branding strategy.

“This is an important step in recognizing the company we’ve built since buying MERO Structures from MERO GmbH in early 2004,” said Ian Collins, president of the company. “The name captures our unique combination of strong German engineering heritage, international reach and flexible American attitude—a combination that’s proven unbeatable for delivering client value,” he added.

Collins said the re-branding also accentuates the company’s approach to delivering structures and enclosures that are aesthetically compelling, conservatively engineered and reasonably priced.

Walker Glass Expands its Textures Acid-Etched Glass Operations

Walker Glass of Montreal has expanded its Textures acid-etched glass manufacturing operations.

The company says the expansion is in response to a growing demand for shorter lead-times and a broad range of etched glass substrates and sizes. With completion expected in the fall of 2006, this expansion will allow the company to increase its production capacity and flexibility.

Coastal Industries Redesigns Website
Coastal Industries has a newly redesigned website that features web tools. It allows dealers and customers to download and upgrade its CrystalBall software, the company’s comprehensive fabrication and costing software program that allows vendors to fabricate and price their own custom enclosures with detailed cut sheets, 3-D drawings, details for installation and assembly, measuring guides and purchase order generation.

The newly-redesigned website also lets vendors view all products in available glass sizes and finishes and provides sales aids, measuring sheets and a section where orders can be viewed.
