America's Glass Showcase
Preparing to Learn at a True Glass Retailers Show
By Megan Headley

Manufacturers, fabricators and suppliers for the glass industry are all invited to the Americas’ Glass Showcase™, May 18-19 at the Cashman Center in Las Vegas. The event, sponsored by the Americas Glass Association, offers two full days of industry exhibits, industry-related educational seminars and networking opportunities in downtown Las Vegas, a city that truly never sleeps. The Golden Nugget will play host hotel, and a great backdrop for fun and relaxation, for this event.

Show Off Your Stuff
Attendees and exhibitors who arrive early will have the opportunity to show off their skills on the golf course during the AGA Golf Classic, Thursday, May 17. Over the next two days, it will be the exhibitors’ turn to show off their stuff in the Cashman Center expo hall. A variety of products will be available including material handling solutions, new glass products for the bathroom and more. Attendees can also become part of the exhibition, by participating in the putty running contest sponsored by Sommer & Maca Industries Inc. The contest will pit glaziers against one another to see who can putty a window the fastest and the neatest.

Attendees can also expect to find the relative comforts of the office on the show floor, including an Internet lounge, sponsored by Glass.net, open during show hours and refreshment provided by sponsor Mainstreet Software.

Education Opportunities
Noted consumer safety advocate Ralph Nader will deliver the keynote address on May 18. The author of the book Unsafe at Any Speed, Nader has been actively involved in automotive safety issues for nearly 40 years. In addition to having helped shape motor vehicle safety laws, he was also instrumental in facilitating the recall of defective motor vehicles over the years. In 2006, a movie biopic of his life titled An Unreasonable Man debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and opened nationwide in February 2007. For the AGA audience, Nader will discuss consumer/glass safety as it relates to both architectural and automotive glass.

Following the keynote address, attendees can find a range of seminars on topics including frameless shower doors, effective business practices, glazing safety, safety glazing codes, site-built energy concerns, computer systems for designing glass, fire codes and more. For more information on the show or to register, visit www.americasglassassn.org
