promotions Rick Marshall Named President of Wausau Window and Wall Systems In Marshall’s new role, he will work closely with Wausau’s leadership team to continue sales growth for the company’s custom-engineered products and its Advantage by Wausau pre-engineered windows. Additionally, he will oversee operational improvements and executive management at the two companies. Marshall joined Wausau and Linetec in 1996 as divisional vice president of finance for both business units, and in 1999 was promoted to Linetec president. Prior to working with Apogee, he was with IBM. He has an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. AFG Names Serge Martin New Vice President, Marketing Martin will be moving to the AFG corporate office in Atlanta from Brussels where he has been in sales and marketing management for Glaverbel. Prior to joining Glaverbel, he managed the “Energy in Buildings” laboratory for the Belgian Building Research Institute. He graduated with high distinction from Universite Libre de Bruxelles in civil engineering. Wallin was named AFG vice president of sales and marketing in 2001. He has been with the company for more than ten years.“I have known and worked with Serge for the past six years, and am excited that he has accepted this challenge,” says Wallin. “His combination of strategic thinking and broad technical experience will be a real asset to AFG and our customers.” Edgetech Adds Two to Sales Team Having previously worked with an I.G. equipment supplier, Burk received his bachelor’s degree in business from Myers College in Cleveland and his master’s in adult learning and development from Cleveland State University. Solvay Names Vice President Finance and Information Technology Most recently Lacey served as president and chief executive officer of Solvay Solexis Inc., a position he held since 1999. Prior to that, he served as the company’s chief financial officer. Lacey attended City University of New York – College of Staten Island, where he studied finance and accounting, and INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, where he studied in the executive management and development program. appointments Insula-Dome Names Kroes Director of Marketing and Sales Kroes will be based in the company’s new facility in Chester, Conn., and will direct the outside sales force, develop marketing strategies and implement new business development initiatives. Previously Kroes served as president and chief executive officer of Roto Frank of America, until the operating assets of Roto Frank’s roof window manufacturing division were acquired by Insula-Dome. After a brief retirement, Kroes was asked to join Insula-Dome in a consulting capacity. Vistawall Names Scott Rowe Sales Representative Rowe brings more than 25 years of experience in the commercial glazing and glass industry, and previously served as an estimating project manager with Architectural Glass and Metals in Byron Center, Mich. Indalex Appoints Chief Operating OfficerCharles E. Ulik has been appointed chief operating officer of Chicago-based Indalex Holding Corp. Ulik will be responsible for all manufacturing facilities in the Indalex North America network as well as the operations of Indalex International, the company’s offshore sourcing capability. In addition, Ari Himma was appointed human resources director. Himma has nearly 20 years of comprehensive experience in managing international human resources issues, and joins Kyro from M-real Corp., where he served as an executive vice president of human resources and a member of the management team for almost six years. LAMATEK Names Clauss Fenestration Account Manager Previously, Clauss worked as the marketing services manager at a local firm. She specializes in coordinating sales efforts and maintaining strong communication links with clients. obituaries Christian Haller, Former Cardinal VP, Dies Haller came to Illinois from Germany in 1954 and worked as a brick layer. In 1960 he became a salesperson for Cardinal Glass Co., where he later became general manager and vice president. He moved to Michigan in 1976 and managed a window manufacturing company. In 1978 he became a manufacturer’s representative serving Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. In addition, the 2007 Glass Expo Midwest, October 9-10, at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel & DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, Mich., will be held in Haller’s honor. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony and members of Haller’s family will be in attendance to officially open the event. Haller is survived by his wife, Kathleen, his three children and three grandchildren.
