Frank Lowe Double-Coats Its New Adhesive
Frank Lowe Rubber & Gasket Co. in Farmingdale, N.Y., has improved its cross-linked polyethylene glazing tape by adding a double-coated acrylic adhesive. Series GLZ 3500 is available in 1⁄16- and 1⁄8-inch thicknesses, while Series GLZ 5500 is 1⁄32 inch thick. Both lines incorporate the new adhesive, which the company says provides strong initial tack and a release liner for easy application. The tape is designed to block water, moisture, light and dust, and is resistant to UV, weathering, oxidation and temperature variation.

IDC Goes Digital 
High-resolution digital imaging in glass is the latest addition to the range of services available from IDC Colourfield in Australia. The digital image is printed onto the interlayer between two lites of laminated Class 1 safety glass.

IDC says the product meets AS/NZ 2208 Grade A safety glass standards and is suitable for just about any application, including splashbacks, balustrades, shower screens and building facades, according to information from the company. www.idccolourfield.com

Dlubak Products Receive UL Approval 
Dlubak Corp. in Natrona Heights, Pa., has received UL approval for its level 5 and level 8 ballistics glass-clad polycarbonate make-ups. CRL Introduces Atlas Series of All-Glass Door Hinges
The Atlas series of all-glass door hinges for large interior glass doors has been introduced by Los Angeles-based C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. (CRL). Two of the double-acting Atlas Hinges can support an all-glass door weighing up to 140 pounds with a maximum width of 39 inches.

The automatic closing function with adjustable spring strength eliminates the need for any closer mechanism, and will close the door from any position. When fully opened, the hinge will hold open at 90 degrees. Hinges are available in chrome, brass, oil-rubbed bronze and brushed nickel finishes, and accommodate 5⁄16- to ½-inch tempered glass. www.crlaurence.com

GANA’s Releases 15th Glass Informational Bulletin
The Glass Association of North America (GANA) released its 15th glass informational bulletin (GIB), part of a series of educational documents available to the industry as free downloads on its website. Titled “Describing Architectural Glass Constructions,” the GIB gives a visual representation of many common glazing configurations in the industry.

“Our newest informational bulletin is focused on providing architects and glazing contractors a best practice method of describing architectural glass constructions in project specifications and construction documents,” says Greg Carney, GANA’s technical director. “Text descriptions are supported by illustrations to help visualize the product descriptions.” www.glasswebsite.com

New PPG Brochure Focuses on SUNGATE 500 
Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries has released a new brochure on the advantages of Sungate 500 low-E glass.

Introduced in 1984, Sungate 500 glass by PPG was one of the industry’s first commercial low-E glasses, so-named for its ability to transmit high levels of natural light while blocking the sun’s heat energy in the summer and trapping interior heat in the winter. The energy-efficient glass transmits 76 percent of the sun’s natural light while blocking 30 percent of its solar heat energy. www.ppgglass.com

The N Series unit skylights from Naturalite Skylite Systems in Terrell, Texas, have been tested to be compliant with Section 2405.5 of the International Building Code (IBC), requiring all unit skylights to be air, water and structurally tested to the AAMA/WDMA/CSA/101/I.S.2/A440 fenestration performance standard.

The skylights are extruded from recycled aluminum and are available as self-flashing or curb mount skylights. They are available in custom sizes up to 97 by 104 inches and in single-, double- or triple-glazed units. Besam Launches Manual Revolving Door
Besam Entrance Solutions in Monroe, N.C, has added the RD4M manual revolver to its revolving door product line. The manual door features expansive glass in slim profile doors and a curved glass outer wall that seals the building envelope to reduce energy consumption.

The PURBlue EC melter from Nordson Corp. in Westlake, Ohio, was designed to simplify the use of reactive polyurethane (PUR) adhesives. According to information from the company, the new system features a unique “easy-to-clean” design for efficient cleanup and maintenance. 

In addition, PURBlue EC melters feature pump shutoff valves and quick-disconnect heater and sensor cables. The tank accommodates nearly 40 pounds of adhesive slugs measuring 11 inches in diameter. An inert gas blanket protects adhesive from moisture to prevent premature curing. www.nordson.com
