Glaziers Speak Out: Working Smart Through an Economic Slowdown
Linetec of Wausau, Wis., has constructed a new in-house laboratory to match and blend a wide variety of colors and paints for its architectural and commercial customers. Dale Burford has been promoted to technical manager and environmental engineer to oversee the lab’s construction, organization and operation.

“With the new lab we have quadrupled the space for our in-house blendables team, which we expect will increase our response time for matching customers’ colors,” says Burford. “Instead of sending the match out to the coatings manufacturer, like many other finishers, we can do the majority of the matches right here in the lab. This can reduce our customers’ wait time by days and even weeks.”

The new laboratory will include blending systems for 70 percent Kynar, 50 percent Kynar and baked enamel paints, new ovens, two new spray booths for samples and other equipment. In addition, offices and an on-site training center for the 12 employees serving this area were also added.
