Arch Aluminum & Glass Co. Expands Through Acquisition of Trulite Industries  
Arch Aluminum & Glass Co. Inc. in Tamarac, Fla., acquired Trulite Industries Ltd., a 32-year old glass fabricator based in Mississauga, Ontario. Trulite specializes in large-scale project work including insulating, tempered, spandrel and screen-printed glass. The company is also a distributor of flat glass products. The acquisition of Trulite continues Arch’s geographic growth, and is its first facility in Canada.

In addition, this acquisition allows Arch to move into new areas, and offer opportunities [for customers] to get supplies from a true single source,” says Leon Silverstein, Arch president and chief executive officer (CEO).

“Being with Arch will allow us to continue to offer our customers the best service and quality in the industry,” says Gerry Duffy, president of Trulite.

Biesse America Acquires AGM, Bre.ma Machine
Biesse America, headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., announced two acquisitions intended to increase its presence in the North American market. The company acquired 100 percent of the distribution and service branch AGM Machinery Inc. in Charlotte, N.C., and 60 percent participation of Bre.ma Macchine Srl in Brianza, Italy.

AGM, which sells machines and tools used to process flat sheets of glass and stone-working machinery, is the North American sales agent for all products in the Intermac line. 

The new Biesse division is called Intermac AGM and began operations on April 2, 2007. The company is based in Charlotte, N.C., and Biesse’s current facility will undergo an $8 million expansion.

Frank Micalizzi, one of the founders of AGM, will be working alongside Federico Broccoli, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Biesse America, to implement the new development plan. Broccoli will serve as president and CEO of the incorporated company and will continue to serve in his current position within Biesse America. Micalizzi will remain part of the Intermac AGM management group.

In addition, Biesse acquired Bre.Ma, a European manufacturer of custom machinery, last August. The company makes sophisticated, flexible machines that drill, route and insert. The majority of Bre.Ma’s customers are located in Italy, France and Spain. www.biesseusa.com
