Grant Maune Passes Away
Grant F. Maune, co-owner of Mays-Maune & Associates of St. Louis and Kansas City, Mo., passed away on May 26 at the age of 53.

Maune most recently served as membership chair for the Distributors Council. He is survived by his wife, Susan, and his children, Blake and Meg. The surviving owners of Mays-Maune & Associates are Gary L. Mays and Patrick H. McWard.

Since 1936, the Maune Company, H.C. Sharp Co. and now Mays-Maune & Associates have furnished building products for new and existing nonresidential buildings. The Maune Co. was for many years a manufacturer of commercial windows and curtainwall systems. Several of the product lines developed by the Maune Co. are now being produced by the Oldcastle-Vistawall Group.

Former Glass Digest Publisher Dies
Jordan Wright, who was the owner of Ashlee Publishing Co. and publisher of the now defunct Glass Digest and Fenestration magazines, died on May 11. Services and interment were private. Cause of death was believed to be an embolism, although this has not been confirmed. Wright was 50 years old and is survived by his parents, two children and sister. nHe owned and ran the publishing company for roughly a decade until its closure in 2003.

Apogee Names Gregory Silvestri Executive Vice President
In his new role as executive vice president of Minneapolis-based Apogee Enterprises Inc., Gregory A. Silvestri is responsible for the company’s largest business, Viracon, as well as execution of certain strategic initiatives. Since joining the company in August 2007, Silvestri has been senior vice president of operations at Viracon.

“As [Greg] moves to Apogee, he’ll continue to provide leadership to Viracon operations as he assumes overall responsibility for that business, while taking on corporate strategic initiatives to grow Apogee and improve shareholder value,” says Russell Huffer, Apogee chairman and chief executive officer.

During his 25-year career, Silvestri has gained broad management expertise in the building materials industry and manufacturing and international operations.
