Construction Concepts Gives a Wave

Construction Concepts Unlimited Inc. in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., has introduced the Wave Shim™, a self-tensioning shim designed to provide a simple way to shim doors and windows. The wave shim is capable of holding its inserted position without reliance on screws or bolts due to its unique wave-shaped compressible body, which exerts outward pressure. The high-impact, durable plastic shim is made of 1⁄16-inch stacks to achieve desired thickness. Each shim has tabs that can be easily broken off, as well as slots and holes for string lines and other functions. www.ccuinc.net

Tremco Helps with Tough Transitions

The patent-pending Proglaze® ETA (engineered transition assembly) from Tremco Glazing Solutions Group in Beachwood, Ohio, provides continuity at transitions from window or structural framing to adjacent air and vapor barrier systems.

An extruded aluminum adaptor with pre-engineered race is mechanically attached to the window assembly to insure a durable seal. Tremco 440™ butyl tape serves as a secondary air and water seal. High-movement, low-modulus Spectrem® 1 silicone sealant provides for a compatible adhesive and wet seal. www.tremcosealants.com

GANA Offers 19th Glass Informational Bulletin

The Glass Association of North America (GANA) has released its 19th glass informational bulletin (GIB), a series of educational documents available to the industry as a free download on its website. Approximate Weight of Architectural Flat Glass provides weights by thickness designations as published by North American manufacturers.

In addition, two GIBs were re-approved after the customary five-year review process modeled after that of ASTM International. Heat-Treated Glass Surfaces Are Different and Construction Site Protection of Architectural Glass were both reapproved by GANA’s Tempering Division. www.glasswebsite.com
