Kaba Integrates Certified CHUID
Readers into Standalone Locking Devices
Kaba Access Control in Winston-Salem, N.C., has introduced the E-Plex
5800 series, the only standalone access control system approved by GSA
to meet FIPS 201 requirements (PIV, PIV-I, TWIC, CAC, FRAC, etc.).
The system can be used by simply enrolling FIPS 201 cards right at the
reader without requiring any software, or using software where users can
check card validation against the Federal Bridge PKI, import photos, set
access schedules, retrieve audit trails, etc.
The E-Plex 5800 series is offered as an economical solution to online
systems that may not be practical or affordable in many applications.

DORMA’s New Device Combines Durability and Aesthetics
DORMA Architectural Hardware in Reamstown, Pa., has introduced a line
of Grade 1 narrow stile exit devices that combines performance and durability
with a compact configuration. The 9600/9700/9800 Series narrow stile devices
have been tested beyond 2,500,000 operating cycles. The exit devices have
been designed to retrofit DORMA’s 5000 series and most other manufacturers’
narrow stile devices.
The 9600 Series (concealed vertical rod) and 9800 Series (surface vertical
rod) narrow stile exit devices use heavy-duty castings for extra durability.
The 9700 Series (RIM chassis) features heavy-duty 1020 grade carbon steel
casting for a latch bolt static load rating of 1,500 pounds, more than
three times the ANSI/BHMA 156.3, Grade 1 standard for exit devices.
