PPG Appoints New VP of Flat Glass, Announces Executive Appointments
Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries has announced the following executive
assignments, effective May 1:
• Richard A. Beuke, vice president of silicas, has been named vice
president, flat glass, based at the flat glass business and discovery
center in Harmar, Pa., reporting to J. Rich Alexander, executive vice
president of Performance Coatings and Glass.
Beuke joined PPG in 1976 as an industrial coatings sales representative.
He became vice president, silicas, in November 2009.
• Gary Danowski, former vice president of flat glass, has been
named vice president, automotive refinish, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and
Africa), based at the Rolle, Switzerland, headquarters of PPG Europe.
Danowski was named vice president, performance glazings (now flat glass),
in January 2009.
• Kevin D. Braun, general manager, architectural coatings, ANZ
(Australia and New Zealand), has been named general manager of silica
products, based at the Monroeville, Pa., chemicals center.
• Johann (John) F. Kolling, director, U.S. taxes, has been named
vice president, tax administration, based at the Pittsburgh global headquarters.
DORMA Architectural Hardware Names New President
Wil VandeWiel has been named president of DORMA Architectural Hardware
in Reamstown, Pa.
VandeWiel brings to this position broad domestic and international experience,
most recently in the security industry when he served as managing director
for Bosch Security Systems. He also has held numerous senior-level positions
at Bosch and elsewhere in business development, sales and marketing, quality
and operations.
VandeWiel succeeds Scott Duncan, who retired after six years as president
of DORMA Architectural Hardware.
In addition, DORMA Glas in Millersville, Md., has announced several management-level
and administrative promotions.
• Scott Welch has been promoted to business development manager
for DORMA structural glass fittings.
• Curtis Massey has been named technical services manager and also
leads the team in the Millersville sales office.
• Lora Almuete has assumed the newly created post of inside sales/estimator.
• Joe Schiavone has been named to the newly created post of glazing
channel sales specialist.
• Dan Neilson has been named to the newly created post of director
of business development for DORMA Canada.
Stylmark Names New President and Executive Vice President
Minneapolis-based Stylmark Inc. has appointed Kevin Hogan as president
and Kevin Brown as executive vice president. Both Hogan and Brown
also will serve on the company’s board of directors.
“Kevin Hogan has been with Stylmark 2 ½ years and has been instrumental
in diversifying our customer base and turning our revenue trend positive
as vice president of sales and marketing,” says David Brink, chairman
and chief executive officer (CEO).
Brink adds, “Kevin Brown has been with Stylmark over 15 years and has
had a significant impact on Stylmark’s
manufacturing success. Most recently he has led the physical integration
efforts for the Interlock Structures and Clearr Corp. acquisitions.”
Brink, who led Stylmark for over 40 years, will continue in his role as
chairman, CEO and trustee of the company ESOP.
Casad Joins Vetrotech Saint-Gobain
Mike Casad is the newest member of the fire-rated framing and curtainwall
estimating department for Vetrotech Saint-Gobain in Auburn, Wash. Casad
has 34 years of fenestration experience as a contract glazing estimator
and project manager, as well as many years as a business owner.
Linda Mayer Appointed President, CEO of Schott
Schott North America Inc. in Elmsford, N.Y., has named Linda S. Mayer
to the office of president and chief executive officer (CEO). Mayer will
become the first woman to head the 2,800-employee North American operations
of the specialty glass and materials technologies manufacturer. She succeeds
former president and CEO Dr. Gerald Fine, who in January became a director
of Schott Corp. and a member of the company’s North American Advisory
Board.
Mayer most recently served as a vice president and general manager for
the aerial work platform division of Terex Corp. Prior to joining Terex,
she was vice president of corporate marketing at Rexnord Corp. She has
also served in a variety of roles including marketing, financial analysis
and corporate planning and development for the Kohler Co.

NSG Appoints New President, Building Products Worldwide, and CFO
Clemens Miller is the new president Building Products Worldwide
for Pilkington parent company NSG Group. In this role, Miller will have
full responsibility for all matters relating to the operation and performance
of the company’s global Building Products business. Miller succeeds Mark
Lyons, who has been appointed chief financial officer.
Miller is a German citizen and will be based in Germany. He joined Pilkington
in 1992 from the steel industry, has managed the Group’s Fire Protection
and Solar Energy businesses and was appointed managing director Building
Products Europe in 2007. Since April 2010, he has been vice president
of commercial and solar energy products.
In his new role, Lyons, who has been president of Building Products Worldwide
since 2007, replaces Mike Powell, who has decided to take a senior appointment
outside the group. Lyons will be responsible for all aspects of the work
of the Group’s finance function, including corporate, operational and
business line finance. He will be based in the United Kingdom and Japan,
reporting to Craig Naylor, president and chief executive officer NSG Group.

Bernice Silverstein Passes Away
Bernice “Beani” Silverstein, wife of Robert “Bobby” Silverstein,
founder of Arch Aluminum & Glass Co., passed away on April 30, 2011.
She is survived by her husband; four children, Donna Aubuchon, Leon Silverstein,
Cindy Stocklin, Ricky Silverstein; and many grandchildren, as well as
her sister Mickey Kramer.
Donations in Silverstein’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society
of South Palm Beach or the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeast Florida.
