Shared Appreciation
GANA Volunteers are Servant Leaders
by William Yanek
There is great joy in leading with authority, which is
serving others by meeting their legitimate needs. James C. Hunter,
The Servant
This quote could have been written solely about volunteers
in the Glass Association of North America (GANA). Our volunteers look
at leading not as a chore, nor as something to pad their resumes, but
instead as an opportunity to learn and grow in their industry, and as
an opportunity to give back to the broader community.
Our leaders solve real-life problems, and come up with unique
solutions on every front. With more than 80 task groups, subcommittees
and committees, the leadership found in GANA is not commonplace but instead
extraordinary and truly defines a servant leader.
Join me in expressing your appreciation to GANAs volunteer
leaders at your next opportunity. Thank their companies that allow their
employees to serve; thank their families for allowing them to spend time
away to attend our meetings or work on projects that help our industry.
We all significantly benefit from their dedication and hard work.
