NewMakers new hires Viracon in Owatonna, Minn., has a new director of marketing and product management, Kevin Anez. With 19 years of experience in the building materials industry, Anez comes to Viracon from Andersen Window Corp., where he was a product marketing manager. Previously, he was an adjunct professor in marketing at Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis. In addition, the company has promoted Alissa Schmidt to architectural design department manager. Schmidt has worked at Viracon since 2005, most recently as an architectural design associate. In her new role, Schmidt will lead the architectural design department’s focus on providing design assistance to architects. Direct Metals Co. LLC, a Kennesaw, Ga.-based distributor of specialty metal products, has added to its sales team. Chad Dubiski previously worked as a senior business process consultant for Epicor. Also new is Jorge Reyes, who will quote both custom and stock items of bar grating, perforated metal, wire mesh, expanded metal, safety grating and fiberglass grating. Shawn Hannux has joined Erdman Automation Corp. as an insulating
glass (IG) process specialist and will focus on expanding the Erdman IG
equipment applications for commercial and residential operations throughout
North America. Most recently, Hannux worked as product sales specialist
for Quanex Engineered Products Group’s IG Systems division. promotions Mark Liston has been promoted to president of Glass Doctor, following the resignation of former president Mark Dawson. Liston has been in the role of vice president at Glass Doctor for the past two years and has more than 30 years of franchising management experience. He previously worked for Clockwork Home Services as vice president of sales and marketing and at Valpak as director of new franchise development. Filling the role of vice president of operations is Michael Gai. Gai has been the director of national account services for the past year. Before that, he owned the Glass Doctor of King and Pierce Counties franchise in Seattle for seven years. Officials at Hartung Glass Industries (HGI) of Seattle have promoted Kirk Johnson to director of sales. He joined the company in September 2011 as regional sales manager. A 16-year veteran of the industry, Johnson has experience in the South and West. Johnson worked with the former Vitro America for more than 10 years and, before that, with Arch Aluminum and Glass for five years. obituaries
