Glaston Completes the Sale of A+W Software to Constellation Software
Helsinki, Finland-based Glaston Corp. has closed the sale of its shares in Albat+Wirsam Software GmbH (A+W) to Constellation Software Inc., acting through its Friedman Operating Group. The agreement to sell A+W was subject to customary closing conditions including a competition review by the German Federal Cartel Office, all of which have been satisfied, according to a company release.

“We are glad that all formal hurdles have been overcome,” says Dr. Uwe Schmid, CEO of A+W. “Together with the whole A+W team, I am looking forward to continuing the steady growth of A+W as a market leader in software for glass and windows in partnership with Friedman and Constellation.”

As part of its rebranding, Albat+Wirsam has also officially changed its name to A+W Software GmbH.

“Especially in international markets, the company name of Albat+Wirsam was well-known and highly estimated but has also always been a lingual stumbling block likely to produce confusion because of wrong pronunciation or spelling,” says Schmid. “Now, we are totally and only A+W, which makes things a lot easier and will help to strengthen our appearance on the market.”

The company also has a new logo. Dr. Michael Küttner, A+W company communications, adds, “The new, fresh branding shows that instead of merely adapting to changes, we rather live and create those changes ourselves, with lots of innovative power.”
