After the Holidays
It’s that time again. Time for that Christmas count-down, the decorating of trees, the hanging of mistletoe and almost time even to launch into 2003.
While it feels like life speeds up during the hectic times of the holidays, along with the food-eating, business often slows down, leaving many of us with a little extra time on our hands at the end of January. In addition, the snowy days of winter leave many of us with cabin fever and the urge to head south for some warmer weather.
Many of us have just returned from one trip to the southwest for the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Show in Las Vegas. The show was held November 5-8 and provided much interest and new products for us all. Turn to page 20s for a complete review of the show and the array of products industry’s manufacturers and distributors had to offer us.
Of course, I always enjoy getting to meet more and more of you, our readers, at every show I attend, and soon will get another chance to do that—along with a chance to enjoy some more nice weather in the midst of a cold season here in Virginia.
The fourth annual International Window Film Conference and Expo™ (IWFE) is quickly approaching, and this year it’s heading to San Antonio, just minutes from the infamous site of the Alamo. I hope to get to meet more of you there, and I hope to get to see many of you excelling applicators strut your stuff at the second International Tint-Off. Last year’s tint-off drew almost 50 participants from across the world, and for those of you who said to me last year, “I should have competed—I could have won,” I hope you’re seriously considering entering the frays of competition this year.
In addition to all the opportunities for meeting one another, learning new strategies, seeing new products and discussing issues of concern with other film applicators, the town of San Antonio also offers tons of activities for its visitors. First, of course, there’s the infamous site of the Alamo—where the Lone Star State gained its independence from Mexico.
In addition, it is the home of the San Antonio Spurs, and this year’s expo will be held in the midst of the NBA season.
With all this to look forward to, as you gear up for the holidays and finish off those last bits of turkey and Christmas cookies, make sure you plan for a trip in late January. This is an event you don’t want to miss—in a city with tons to offer.
Personally, I’m looking forward to spending time in San Antonio and getting to meet more of you. Please make sure you stop by our booth and say hello. I’ll also be seeing many of you in the seminars and roundtables the show has to offer; it is a great chance for us all to learn more about the industry and stay up to date on the issues of the day.
See you soon.
