Etched Appearance for Less
Madico Inc. offers a film product that it says provides a cost-effective alternative to etched glass. The Woburn, Mass.-based company says its Decolite line of decorative window films provide a way to retrofit existing glass to provide the appearance of etched glass. Additional benefits include: privacy, design strength in holding the glass together in the event of breakage, rejection of ultraviolet radiation and more, according to the
company.
Madico says these films work with light to create privacy, lend distinctiveness to any setting and are available in multiple patterns and designs. Additionally, it says patterns can change with preferences and applications, without having to replace actual
glass. www.madico.com
NEW SHADES
Crystal Clear Alternative
You can now offer an optically clear film that blocks the harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays and heat from the sun. FilmTack Pte Ltd. says its PERFECT 70 is an Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) thin film that’s engineered to achieve the highest level in infrared (IR) heat reduction and visible light transmission. The Singapore-based company says the original state of ITO is not transparent, but PERFECT 70 is able to achieve clear optical
clarity.
ITO provides this film with a transparent heat-shielding coating with anti-reflection properties and negligible electromagnetic interference.

Cutting Made Safe
OLFA North America is adding two new models to its collection of safety knives. The Rosemont, Ill.-based distributor says its new SK-7 and SK-8 knives are engineered with dual-edge, spring-loaded blades crafted of carbon tool steel for performance and durability. For safety, the extended SK-7 knife blade retracts instantly with the release of the blade slider or after the cutting is completed. The SK-8 blade automatically retracts the instant it loses contact with the material being cut—even with the blade slider
engaged. www.olfa.com
Nano Ceramic Advantages
Geoshield offers a new line of designer nano-ceramic window films for commercial applications. The Baton Rouge, La.-based company says similar ceramic materials have been used by NASA for years to create Space Shuttle tiles, because of their outstanding thermal properties. Geoshield says its window films are spectrally-selective, which means they allow high transmission of visible light and low transmission of infrared, heat-producing light. It also says its films will outperform much darker, shinier, conventional window films and they do not interfere with global positioning system (GPS) and cellular signals (see related story on page 22).The company’s commercial films carry a ten-year warranty in addition to glass breakage and seal failure
warranties. www.geoshieldusa.com
