On a Wing and a …
The science behind 3M's Crystalline and Prestige Series window films to block heat while remaining virtually clear was inspired by the complex nanostructure of a butterfly’s wing. Crystalline Automotive Window Films are metal-free and billed as an “easy-to-maintain, long-life film that won’t interfere with car electronics.” The films have a proprietary multilayer technology that combines more than 200 layers yet remains thinner than a Post-it® Note. Crystalline is available in four variations and are said to offer reduced reflectivity compared to traditional films.
The Prestige Series window films also use non-metallized, multi-layer optical film and nano-technology to reject up to 97 percent of the sun's infrared light and up to 60 percent of the heat coming through windows. These films also reject up to 99.9 percent of damaging UV rays to reduce interior fading. www.3m.com/windowfilm

The BondKap® System by Film Fastener assures that silicone has the correct amount of contact to both glass and frame surfaces while leaving a finished appearance during a security film retrofitting. No tape or tooling is required for application; technicians measure and pre-cut the Bondkap, applies the silicone and presses the BondKap into position. The BondKap will center itself and any silicone that oozes past can be cleaned up with a plastic razor blade and cleaner, according to the company. www.bondkap.com
Hand it to HanitaTek
HanitaTek Window Films is excited to show three of its new products at IWFC the e-Lite 70 in 2- and 8-mil thick; the XTRM Silver 20 exterior film with up to a 15-year warranty; and the SkyLite Silver 20 XTRM for both glass and plastic glazing with up to a 10-year warranty.

HanitaTek bills its XTRM Silver 20 film as a long-life exterior film that it says provides optimal heat rejection with the longest lifespan on the market. The SkyLite Silver 20 XTRM builds on that long life span and is said to be the solution for skylights that may allow in too much heat and glare. www.hanitatek.com
The SteamBlade is an innovative product designed to simplify the removal of window film, vinyl wrap and lettering.
