Firestone Building Products Company LLC announced its Prescott, Ark., manufacturing facility received a Million Work Hour Award from the Arkansas Department of Labor (ADOL). The award is presented to plants that complete one million work hours without a lost day away from work.
In addition to the ADOL award, Firestone announced that the Prescott plant achieved one million hours without an OSHA recordable injury. The plant has reached one million hours without an injury involving days away from work five times in the past nine years; it is the first time Prescott has achieved recognition by the ADOL.
“Our teammates work hard to ensure that safety is paramount in everything we do here at Prescott and across the company,” says Ray Oxley, Firestone plant manager. “Their focus and dedication reflect our company’s core values, and I am proud to work alongside this great group of committed teammates.”
According to the announcement, Firestone has an established safety program that includes training, evaluation of basic systems, internal audits and continuous improvement. Daily, monthly and quarterly meetings focus on workplace safety and process safety management. Teammates are fully engaged in the safety process, and there is active, visible involvement of all levels of management.
