After 22 years of service, Rick Fedrizzi, founding chair and CEO of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is stepping down.
“We set out to simply build better buildings, but we quickly learned that in doing so, we were changing the world,” he says. “The success we’ve enjoyed has been made possible because of our shared vision, common values and unwavering commitment to a prosperous, more sustainable future. It’s been an extraordinary journey we’ve undertaken together.”
His resignation will be made official at the end of the 2016 calendar year.
“The board has already set up a search committee to identify candidates for the CEO position,” he says. “The goal is to complete the process in a timely way so that I have sufficient time to work with that individual to insure a smooth transition and continuity of leadership.”
