YKK Corporation chairperson Tadahiro Yoshida opens a gift from the people of Dublin, Ga., at today’s festivities commemorating YKK AP America’s 25th anniversary.

The day began with a welcome reception and plant tour for the nearly 70 guests, employees and local officials. The tour was followed by the laying of a commemorative wreath and a tree-planting ceremony led by Tadahiro Yoshida, chairperson of YKK Corp.

A luncheon at the Dublin Country Club followed and included comments by Yoshida, the current and previous mayors of Dublin, YKK Corp. of America president and CEO Alex Gregory and YKK AP America Inc. president Oliver Stepe. Stepe took over as president in early April. Takashi Shinozuki, consul general of Japan in Atlanta, was also in attendance.

“Windows are a form of civilization—and of culture,” said Yoshida, who included several examples of landmark windows in his speech. “So by what we do, we try to improve the lives of people in every community … We as a company must always think locally, but build globally. We have had a great relationship with the city and county. We love Dublin.”

Stepe also announced a $25,000 grant to a local educational and training organization.
