Agnora has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top Small and Medium Employers (SMEs), an editorial competition that recognizes enterprises that offer the nation’s best workplaces and forward-thinking human resources policies.
“When people work in a nice environment, they will do a good job.” says Agnora president Richard Wilson. “Our environment is designed to make employees love coming to work and to inspire them to deliver their best.”
Employees can take advantage of an on-site personal trainer, fitness classes, massage therapist and doctor, according to the company. The company also has an employee-run vegetable garden that provides seasonal produce to take home.
Another key area for judging is the hiring process. At Agnora, new hires spend three months in a mentorship program to determine if they will become part of the team.
The company’s founders, Richard and Laura Wilson, say they have tried to create a family-like atmosphere. There is a glass wall that separates the office area from the production floor, designed to symbolize the open relationship between the two groups, according to the company

Employers were evaluated by the editors at Canada’s Top 100 Employers using the following criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
