Sedak to Expand to Larger Glass Sizes

Germany-based sedak announced that starting in mid-2018, it will fabricate glass up to 3.51 meters by 20 meters.

sedak’s Gersthofen, Germany, facility.

“From year to year, the demand for oversize glass formats rises,” says CEO Bernhard Veh. “Ten years of experience and the continuing good order situation encouraged us to take the next step.”

By expanding its production capabilities, sedak becomes the world’s only manufacturer for glass of that size, according to the company.

Machines for the 20-meter-long glass have been ordered. “Each of them is tailored to sedak’s special requirements and developed in close cooperation with the machine manufacturers,” according to the company.

Sedak also announced it is currently operating a new tempering furnace that can process glass with maximum dimensions of 3.2 meters by 16.5 meters into fully tempered or heat-strengthened glass.

“Our new furnace allows us to expand the status quo and to realize a leap in technology,” says Ulrich Theisen, general manager and sales director of sedak.
