The Glass Association of North America (GANA)-National Glass Association (NGA) recognized a number of individuals last night during the 2018 Annual Conference dinner. The event has been taking place this week in Napa, CA, where the association presented its division member awards, as well as the C. Gregory Carney Member of the Year award, which is presented to one outstanding member.
This year’s top honor was given to Rick Wright with Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope® for his many years of service and dedication to the glass industry. Wright has been active not just within the association, but also many other organizations, such as ASTM.
Division member award winners were:
Decorative: Bobby Chestnut, with Standard Bent Glass;
Energy: Kayla Natividad, Pilkington North America;
Flat Glass: Mitch Edwards, Guardian Glass;
Insulating: Joe Erb, Quanex Building Products;
Laminating: Jeff Haberer, Trulite; and
Tempering: Ren Bartoe with Vesuvius.

Also during last night’s awards dinner, the association recognized GANA general counsel Kim Mann for his many years of service and dedication to the glass industry.
In addition, several of the divisions and groups had met earlier in the day. These include the Protective Glazing Council, Fire Rated Glazing Council and the Decorative Division. The groups reviewed and discussed several documents that are being updated or revised. Work will continue to move forward on these as the association transitions into its new format and structure.
The Annual Conference concludes today. Stay tuned to USGNN.com™ for more news and reports.
Ted Derby should also be lauded as the BEC Division Member of the Year. I don’t believe there was any recognition of that in the press associated with BEC earlier in the year…
