Bellevue, Wash., is the place to be this week as the glass and glazing industry sets up for two days of educational seminars and networking opportunities at Glass Expo Pacific Northwest™ (GEPN) ʼ18. The event takes place at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue in Bellevue, Wash., (suburban Seattle) from May 31 – June 1, 2018.
Registration will be open for attendees from 2 to 5 p.m. today. Exhibitor move-in is set for the same time. On Thursday, registration will begin at 7 a.m. and run until 7 p.m. It’s scheduled for 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.
Rick Koeller, president of the Washington Glass Association and Northwest sales representative for Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope®, and USGlass magazine publisher Debra Levy, will open GEPN with a welcome and overview from 7:45 to 8 a.m.
At 8 a.m., attendees can learn about up-to-date information on the Pacific Northwest region’s economic standing during the “Economic Update” from Nick St. Denis, director of research for Key Media & Research.
Following St. Denis from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. will be Vaughn Schauss, Americas technical consultancy manager for Kuraray’s Trosifol division. His seminar, “Working with Laminated Safety Glass to Avoid Problems,” will cover how to keep safety glass installations free from blemishes while ensuring edge stability.
Attendees then can gain valuable insights into body language from expert Janine Driver during her keynote speech “You Say More Than You Think.”
The seminars will continue at 11 a.m. with Bernard Lax, CEO of Pulp Studio, and his seminar “Decorative Glass: Benefiting from Graphic Imaging (1 AIA LU).” Lax will explain performance characteristics of various decorative glass production methods and technologies.
From noon to 1 p.m., uber-millennials Daniel Snow, manager of Glass.com®, and Casey Flores, account executive for Key Media & Research, will hold a (bring-your-own) brown bag lunch session focused on hiring and selling to millennials. They will speak about what makes the millennial generation tick and how to better work with them.
Rounding out the day’s seminars are Attila Arian, president of Schüco USA, and Lyle Hill, president of Keytech North America, with their seminar “C-Suite Changes Coming in the Contract Glazing Industry” from 1 to 2 p.m. This very important seminar will cover trends that will change how the contract glazing industry obtains bids and executes work.
The show floor will feature nearly 70 exhibitors for attendees to visit and learn about companies’ products and services. To view the full list of exhibitors click here.
