YKK AP America’s unitized curtainwall was on display. Company officials say it allows contract glaziers to do more work in the shop more efficiently, rather than in the field where the environment is less controlled and not as safe.

The company also displayed its zero sightline window designed for curtainwall systems. It has a structural silicone glazed operable vent that allows occupants to open windows without compromising the aesthetic with large sightlines.
Gary Flemming, business manager of commercial window products, said that ADA compliance is a major focus at the company and compliance is growing even in projects that don’t require that ADA standards be met. The company exhibited its sliding glass door with a low-profile sill, which can help architects meet their ADA requirements.
Arnold Glas showed its StrainScanner, which measure isotrophy value to ensure that glass is free of anisotropy.

The measuring could soon be part of ASTM standards, according to Paul Arnold, trainee, sales and marketing.
The company’s Ornilux bird glass was another major focus at the Arnold Glas booth. Sales coordinator James Stammers said that the demand for bird-friendly glass is growing, especially in San Francisco.

According to Elettra Bresciani, marketing manager and product development, architects are requesting more interior glass. She expects etched glass to be used increasingly in the hospitality sector in the future and for etching to be applied on different glass types. Currently, lines and micro textures are major trends in acid-etched glass.
SnabCab’s stand-alone office pods were set up on the exhibit floor, highlighting the company’s partnership with Corning. Gorilla Glass is used extensively in the pods and, in some applications, can be used as a medium for speakers, light control and computer technology.
