HMI Cardinal Acquires Woon-Tech

HMI Cardinal, a domestic manufacturer of custom glass shower enclosures and other commercial glazing solutions, has acquired Woon-Tech.

Woon-Tech, also known as Woonsocket Glass Fabricators, is based in Whitinsville, Mass. The glass shower enclosures manufacturer also fabricates other specialty glass products including glass entrances, mirrors and digitally printed glass.

With the addition of Woon-Tech, HMI Cardinal is expanding its shower glass manufacturing capabilities outside of its Louisville, Ky., headquarters, a move it says will allow it to better serve its national customer base. In addition, this acquisition extends the company’s specialty glass fabrication capabilities through Woon-Tech’s digital ceramic in-glass printing, back painting, glass lamination and specialty mirror manufacturing.

As a new subsidiary of HMI Cardinal, Woon-Tech will retain its new manufacturing facility in Whitinsville, as well as the management team and employees under the leadership of current president Chip Rogers. Cardinal and Woon-Tech will each continue to serve their respective customer bases with the same quality and delivery standards, according to the company.

“Woon-Tech has a talented team with extraordinary specialty glass fabricating capabilities that clearly complement Cardinal’s own facilities and skillsets,” says Chris FitzGerald, CEO of HMI Cardinal. “Together, Cardinal and Woon-Tech are positioned to more effectively serve our combined national customer base with industry-leading glass fabrication and glass technology capabilities. In addition, both companies will be even better equipped to support their traditions of high-quality products, short lead times, and excellent customer service.”
