Glass Expo Northeast™ ’19 Seminar Spotlight: The Growing Importance of Unitized Systems (1 AIA HSW LU)

Glass Expo Northeast™ (GENE) is headed to the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale, N.Y., March 27 – 28, 2019.  This two-day event caters to the needs of the architectural glass and metal industry by providing vital networking opportunities and essential educational courses.

Greg Galloway, ProTek® brand manager for YKK AP America Inc., will present “The Growing Importance of Unitized Systems.” This session not only provides crucial industry specific knowledge, but also affords eligible attendees an American Institute of Architects Health, Safety and Welfare Learning Unit (1 AIA HSW LU). The seminar is slated for Wednesday, March 27, from 8:45 – 9:45 a.m.

In this session, Galloway examines today’s construction climate, focusing on increasingly tight schedules and rapid building close-ins, which are highly critical to success. The type of system and method of installation—stick built versus unitized systems—can have a large impact on the structure’s overall timeline. Unitized construction is not new, and it does not fit every project, but it is a growing consideration given the importance of quality, time and ongoing labor challenges. This course will help attendees recognize the advantages and disadvantages of stick built, unitized and hybrid systems.

Galloway’s background includes more than 30 years in fenestration systems with accomplishments in strategic business planning, market intelligence, brand and product management. Galloway holds B.S. and M.B.A. degrees, and serves on the Southeast AAMA Technical Committee and Board of Directors.
