Universal Photonics Inc. (UPI), global manufacturer and distributor of surfacing and polishing technology, has received ISO 9001:2015 certification at its manufacturing and distribution facility in Central Islip, N.Y.
While UPI has always operated under strict standards, according to the company, certification of the Central Islip facility completes the goal of company-wide ISO 9001:2015 certification. UPI’s JH Rhodes facility in Vernon, N.Y., certified since 2001, was the first New York manufacturer of precision surfacing materials to achieve ISO 9001 certification. It currently is certified with the latest ISO 9001:2015 version.
ISO certification is accepted as a global standard for quality system management. It signifies that UPI and its divisions meet or exceed global requirements for quality in operations. The ISO standard safeguards customers and users of UPI’s products and services, ensuring operational consistency, reliability and ever-improving products and services. It demonstrates the existence of an effective quality management system that satisfies the rigors of an independent, external audit. The certification also assures UPI customers that the company and its divisions are fully committed to providing the very best in surfacing science, according to the company.
