Vitro Architectural Glass Installs Quality Inspection Systems

Vitro Architectural Glass has in-stalled four new optical inspection systems from ISRA VISION. The systems will inspect Magnetron-coated glass sheets using the fully automated P2-Coating and P2-Color systems.

“The PowerPlate systems have made product quality more consistent from day to day and across all of our production lines,” says Joe Koepfinger, senior staff engineer at Vitro. According to Koepfinger, production waste was also successfully reduced.

Employing multiple cameras and light sources positioned on both sides of the glass, P2-Coating scans the glass surface to identify defects more precisely and efficiently than manual inspection can.

United Skys Expands to the West Coast

A new distribution agreement with Rowe Fenestration will allow United Skys to expand its reach to the West Coast market.

“We’ve added a team committed to representing quality products and we are happy to extend our reach to Northern California with Rowe Fenestration,” says Don Hempson, CEO of United Skys.

“As a full fenestration package supplier, we are frequently asked to add skylights to the package. To date, we have not done that,” adds Scott Rowe, principal and glass geek at Rowe Fenestration. “When the opportunity arose with United Skys, we saw it as a great fit with a great company that does quality work.

White Bear Glass Installs FuseCube Machine

White Bear Glass, a glass and design shop in the Twin Cities area, will treat its shower and commercial glass with Diamon-Fusion International’s fully automated hydrophobic coating machine.

“Bringing this into our operation allows us to treat all types of glass sizes and styles, making our shower and bath enclosures even more popular, and in addition, provide architects, designers and homeowners many other glass possibilities that require or can benefit from a long-term protection option with an easy-to-clean surface,” said Jeff Meyer, president of White Bear Glass.

The newly installed FuseCube streamlines the Diamon-Fusion coating via a chemical vapor deposition process. The coating is circulated throughout the chamber and fused onto both sides of the glass ensuring evenly coated glass.

“The family-run team at White Bear Glass has been an absolute pleasure to work with. We look forward to our partnership and long-term efforts in differentiating their glass business,” said Syndi Sim, DFI’s vice president of marketing and business development.
