Velux America LLC Completes Acquisition of Wasco Products Inc.
Velux America LLC, the U.S. sales company of global skylight maker Velux Group, has acquired Wasco Products Inc.
Timothy B. Miller, president of Velux America, told USGlass magazine that combining the product lines of both companies will enable them to better serve commercial and residential architects, general contractors, specifiers and others on all manner of projects.
“The [Wasco] owner, Chris Magnusson, has been in the business for a long time and would like to start transitioning out and work toward retirement. Chris and his team have been very successful at Wasco, creating one of the most specified commercial sky-light brands,” Miller said. “Additionally, Wasco is well-respected in the commercial marketplace …”
According to Miller, all current Wasco employees were offered a job with Velux.
“Combined with a recent expansion of our Greenwood, S.C., plant, these new facilities will strengthen our leadership in the daylighting category,” said John W. Pillman, president at Velux Greenwood LLC. “Together, our manufacturing teams will build on a shared legacy of excellence.”
Wasco’s Wells, Maine, manufacturing facility will continue to produce products such as structural glass systems, barrel vaults and polycarbonate panels.
“In Reno, Nev., the company now has a dome manufacturing system that we can offer to the large Velux distribution base. This will allow us to be more competitive and faster to the market,” he said. “With regards to product sales, customers should continue to communicate and place orders with their existing sales representatives. Wasco products will continue to be sold under the Wasco name and via the Wasco sales team and agencies. Velux products will continue to be sold under the Velux name via the Velux sales team.”
David Briggs, CEO of the Velux Group in Denmark, said the acquisition fits in well with the company’s commercial skylight portfolio.
“It will further strengthen our position in the commercial and residential daylighting category,” said Briggs, who assumed leadership of the Velux Group in January. “Wasco’s commitment to continuous product improvement makes it a perfect match for the Velux family.”
Velux is one of the largest commercial skylight manufacturers in the U.S. It’s headquartered in Fort Mill, S.C., and has a manufacturing facility in Greenwood, S.C.
“Our two companies share a vision for creating happy and healthy workplaces and homes with daylighting, and we’re honored to join forces with the Wasco team,” said Miller. “Together, we can help architects and interior designers bring their visions for better work environments to life through a strong and diverse commercial product offering.”
