GlassCon Global VE – Glass Expo VE Keynote Speaker Announced

Dr. Franz Prettenthaler

Dr. Franz Prettenthaler, M.Litt, the director of LIFE Institute for Climate, Energy and Society at Joanneum Research, and one of the world’s experts on economic climate impact and risk modeling, will give the keynote address at the upcoming GlasCon Global VE – Glass Expo VE. Dr. Prettenthaler will speak on September 9, the first day of the two-day event.

Climatologists continue to sound the alarm on climate change and the drastic impact it is having (and will have) on our day-to-day life and beyond. Dr. Prettenthaler will share his expertise with attendees by examining the impacts of climate change on urban living, energy consumption and the role glass can and will play in sustainable design.

About Dr. Prettenthaler

Dr. Prettenthaler holds a PhD in economics and a MSc with honors in environmental system sciences, both from the University of Graz, a Master of Letters in philosophy from St. Andrews and a DEA in public economics and finance from Paris X / Cergy.

After serving as assistant professor at the University of Graz, Austria, he steadily built up the environmental economics group at Joanneum Research. He has served as the director of LIFE Institute for Climate, Energy and Society since 2016. Dr. Prettenthaler is also a lecturer at Graz University of Technology.
