MY Shower Door/D3 Glass Earn Regional and National Honors

This month, Fort Myers, Fla.-based businesses MY Shower Door and D3 Glass have been recognized by Inc. Magazine and the Business Observer.

For the fifth time in six years, MY Shower Door was placed on Inc. Magazine’s Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing and most successful independent businesses in the United States. In the 2020 list, MY Shower Door made the grade at No. 4,186, based largely on its growth in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area.

The Inc. Magazine list ranks the 5,000 fastest-growing privately held companies in the United States by overall revenue growth over a three-year period. For the 2020 Inc. 5000, winners were ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2017 to 2019. MY Shower Door’s Tampa/St. Petersburg location alone showed 81% revenue growth over that three-year period.

“It’s very difficult to make it onto the Inc. 5000 list at all,” says co-owner Bill Daubmann. “To make it multiple times, you need to show consistent growth over several years. It’s great to know that we’re not only competitive when it comes to our region, but truly competitive across the country. It’s a true honor.”

MY Shower Door began in 2003 as a 2,000-foot-square showroom and assembly operation in Naples, Fla., and took a leap forward into manufacturing with the founding of D3 Glass in 2013. Today, there are eight locations across the Sunshine State. Outside of Florida, Daubmann and his team have established six affiliate stores in Oklahoma City, Okla.; Edmond, Okla.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; St. Paul, Minn.; Minneapolis; and York, Pa.

More locally, MY Shower Door/D3 Glass has been named to the Business Observer’s 2020 Top 500. Each year, the Business Observer spends seven months researching companies on the Gulf Coast from Tampa to Naples. The Top 500 list ranks the 500 largest companies by gross revenues for consistency and comparability.

On this year’s list, which reflects 2019 fiscal year data, MY Shower Door/D3 Glass ranked 289th with $17.8 million in combined 2019 revenue, an increase of 8.54% over the previous year. This reflects a jump from the previous year’s ranking of 299th.

“It’s always exciting to see who’s on the list and how veterans of the list have changed over the past couple years,” says Kat Hughes, executive director of the Business Observer. “Covering nine counties that each have thousands of companies, the Top 500 really has become a who’s who for leading firms in the region.”

MY Shower Door/D3 Glass are in the minority when it comes to the Business Observer 500.  The average company on the list has been in business for 31 years, nearly double the amount of time since MY Shower Door was founded, according to the company. Three members of the list were founded before 1900.

“Honors like this add to the culture and attitude of our organization and our team,” says MY Shower Door/D3 Glass co-owner Keith Daubmann.

MY Shower Door/D3 Glass co-owner Doug Daubmann adds, “We’re continuing to grow, and that gives everyone in our company a chance to grow along with us.”
