Julia Schimmelpenningh, architectural applications technical manager for Eastman Chemical Co., will serve a three-year term on the ASTM International board of directors. An ASTM International member since 1992, Schimmelpenningh serves as chair of the performance of buildings committee (E06). She has also been chair of the security systems and equipment committee (F12). Schimmelpenningh has received the Award of Merit, Award of Appreciation, and a Service Award for her contributions to ASTM International.
Before joining Eastman, a global specialty material and chemical company, in 1988, Schimmelpenningh held positions at Solutia Inc. and Monsanto Chemical Co. Schimmelpenningh holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Emmanuel College.
ASTM International’s board of directors is made up of 25 leaders from an array of companies, associations and government bodies worldwide. Several members are based outside the U.S.
