International Code Council to Lead the US Technical Advisory Group to ISO Technical Committee on Buildings

The International Code Council (ICC) has been appointed as the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (U.S. TAG) administrator to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 59 (ISO/TC 59), which oversees the development of ISO standards related to buildings and civil engineering works. As the U.S. TAG administrator, the ICC is responsible for formulating the official U.S. position to proposals and within activities under the responsibility of ISO/TC 59, as well as for bringing to ISO any new work items that would support the broad efforts in the U.S. in this area of standardization.

To ensure that all interested parties have an opportunity to contribute to the development of the U.S. position on key issues that are considered by ISO/TC 59, the ICC is soliciting U.S. stakeholders to participate in the U.S. TAG.

“It is critical for the U.S. industry involved in the built environment and building safety to have a seat at the table in discussions of international standardization impacting buildings and civil engineering works, and the Code Council is strategically positioned with our NGO partners to facilitate this dialogue among U.S. building industry stakeholders,” says Dominic Sims, ICC CEO.
