The ET Foundation and the Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) have announced the student winners of the 2021 Aluminum Extrusion Design Competition. The International Aluminum Extrusion Design Competition received more than 100 designs submitted by students from 40 universities, colleges, design schools and high schools spanning 15 countries.
Students were awarded cash scholarships totaling $12,000 for first, second and third place winning entries and an additional $500 each for three Sustainable Design Honorable Mention Awards. The scholarships were provided by design competition sponsors: Almag Aluminum Inc., MI Metals Inc. and Pennex Aluminum Company LLC.
A panel of four AEC Member judges, including Todd Boyer, Joe Jackman, Brook Massey and Craig Werner, selected the winning product designs. The judges chose the winning designs based on innovation, utilization of aluminum extrusion’s inherent characteristics and many additional competition criteria, selecting from among a global field of students.
