Vitrum Glass Group First to Earn Guardian Select Elite Fabrication Certification
Vitrum Glass Group is the first company to earn Guardian Glass North America’s Guardian Select Elite Fabrication certification for architectural glass fabricators in the U.S. and Canada.
“We’re proud to be the first Guardian Select Elite Fabricator,” says Vitrum president Thomas Martini. “As projects require more complex products and have increased quality requirements, it’s important to collaborate on an improved standard. Synergy between the glass fabricator and glass manufacturer is key to give the end user the confidence of a successful project.”
“We congratulate Vitrum for being the first fabricator to embrace Guardian’s newly enhanced fabricator program and complete the elite level of certification,” adds Brian Schulz, segment marketing manager, commercial for Guardian Glass North America. “Vitrum understands architects are demanding higher optical quality standards. We look forward to taking our partnership—which reaches back to the early 2000s—to new levels of architectural glazing performance.”
Vitrum achieved the status because of its advanced capabilities and quality standards, according to Guardian. Processing equipment, practices and measuring devices helped the company meet the Elite Optical Quality specification, a new specification from Guardian Glass that requires stringent specification targets and processing controls are in place to help achieve the highest level of optical qualities of glass on a project, according to the company.

Unicel, Now Management-Owned
Vincent Couturier and Samuel Doyon-Bissonnette have completed the management buyout transaction from Desjardins Capital for purchasing Unicel Architectural Corp., a manufacturer of timber and aluminum curtainwall and skylights. The deal means the management team acquires the balance of shareholdings, giving Couturier and Doyon-Bissonnette, son and stepson, respectively, of Unicel Architectural president Jean-François Couturier, majority stake in the company. Jean-François Couturier and Viviane Chan continue as minority shareholders.
“We are proud to become together majority shareholders of Unicel Architectural, a growing company which has practically doubled its revenue since 2017, thanks to the vision of our father and dedication of our hard-working employees. We also recognize and are grateful to Desjardins Capital, the contribution of which has made our entrepreneurial dream a reality …” add Couturier and Doyon-Bissonnette.
“The buyout of the shares by two members of Unicel Architectural’s executive team and members of Jean-François Couturier’s family is a perfect illustration of our business model which consists over the long term, of enhancing, supporting and keeping the flagships of Quebec,” says Yves Calloc’h, COO of Desjardins Capital. “Desjardins Capital granted a loan to the company to complete the business transfer, support the growth plan and thus remain the partner of choice for Unicel Architectural. Another source of satisfaction for us is the maintenance of the board of directors that we put in place in 2017. Indeed, the quality of governance of our companies is a guarantee of sustainability, which is as important as the financial support that we provide.”
