Over the past 48 months, Specialist Glass Products (SGP) has invested over £6 million to expand and equip its glass manufacturing facility with the latest machinery, allowing the company to process, cut, toughen, laminate and curve glass up to 6,000mm by 3,210mm.
SGP was among 11 companies shortlisted for the Business of the Year Award, which is in association with the Mid Yorkshire Chamber. The award showcases businesses demonstrating innovation and outstanding contributions to Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield, according to a press release.
“Specialist Glass Products is an incredibly impressive business that makes an important contribution to the region, not only in terms of employment but also in terms of profile,” said Deborah Melluish, senior partner at Eaton Smith and member of the judging panel. “The judges were impressed with its commitment to innovation which has enabled it to compete for large contracts on an international scale. The investment that the management has put into the business is evident and some excellent decision making on their part has provided SGP with a very successful business and an exciting future.”
