Renovating a Historic and Possibly Haunted Hotel

A reportedly haunted reputation didn’t scare WINCO away from the opportunity to renovate the Read House Hotel in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Rebuilt in 1926, the hotel has hosted world leaders, presidents and other celebrities—and its reported ghostly resident, Annalisa.

The historic property underwent a $25 million renovation with upgrades to the exterior facade, interior and windows. WINCO and glazing contractor Ross Glass & Aluminum worked on the project, which also included a custom-fabricated trim to the panning.

According to a press release, the project required WINCO to modify its current window shapes to meet the customer’s custom requirements, which led to the use of WINCO’s Series 1450S and 4500 window systems.

The fabrication occurred in St. Louis with only a two-month lead-time, including the custom panning features, while the installation team had only a month to install the windows.
