COVID Today and Tomorrow: What Have We Learned? What Can We Expect?

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all businesses around the globe, and the glass and metal industries are no exception. Glass Expo Northeast™ ’22 (GENE), April 6-7 at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale, N.Y., will conduct an industry deep dive on the situation today and how to better prepare for tomorrow.

“Crisis Aftermath – Supply Challenges” will be an engaging panel discussion covering diverse subject matter on what we’ve learned, how we’ve improved, where we see challenges, and changes in construction, employment, and the supply chain.

“Many of our business operations are fundamentally different from early 2020, and the impact of COVID will resonate for years to come,” says Debra Levy, publisher of USGlass magazine and its online news service USGNN™, who will moderate the panel. “I’m excited to bring this panel of industry leaders and innovators together to share knowledge and get their perspectives on the industry today and what short- and long-term challenges we still face.”

Joining Levy will be representatives of manufacturing, fabrication and sales and service, including Amber Deimler, vice president of sales for Demountable Concepts Inc./MyGlassTruck; Daniel Plotnick, international and domestic accounts manager for Vitro Architectural Glass; Jeff Wilkins, chief operating officer, AGNORA; and Barry Wood, vice president of marketing and commercial development of Wood’s Powr-Grip.

Crisis Aftermath will be presented in two parts: Part one will discuss the lessons of companies that have successfully navigated through the crisis, what they learned, and the new programs/procedures they put in place. Part two will consider the future implications for the glass and metal industries—new technologies and products, changes in construction, human resources and more.

“Office space vacancies, supply chain fluctuations, customer service, and staffing and salaries are just a few of the topics we’ll cover,” says Levy.

Stay tuned for more on this and other exceptional learning opportunities at Glass Expo Northeast™. GENE is a free event for USGNN™, USGlass and Architect’s Guide to Glass and Metal subscribers and includes two days of education, networking, and more.
