Long Glazing and Doors Inc. (LGD) announced that it earned the North American Contractor Certification (NACC).
LGD, a family-owned commercial glazing contractor based in El Cajon, Calif., became the first glazing contractor in the San Diego region, the 10th in California and the 54th in the country to earn the NACC. LGD’s certification became effective in July 2022.
“We’re a young company striving to be the best and continually trying to find ways to set ourselves apart from our competitors,” says Michael Mims, LGD’s project manager and safety director. “We equated NACC to a building project; we wanted to build a strong foundation for the future.”
The NACC is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-accredited, third-party credential that recognizes architectural glass and metal subcontractors who adhere to best practices for glazing quality, construction safety and business operations.
To earn the NACC, LGD worked with NACC program administrators for more than six months to streamline and strengthen processes to deliver safe and high-quality projects. To maintain the NACC, LGD will be reevaluated annually to confirm that its business and glazing practices remain at the highest standards.
“With LGD’s certification, California has become the state with the most NACC credentialed glazing contractors,” says Jeff Dalaba, NACC’s program administrator. “As the NACC program continues to grow and build critical mass, it has reached additional states and Canadian provinces, strengthened the industry and motivated more companies to become better. NACC gives peace of mind to building owners, architects, construction managers and insurers. Hiring a credentialed glazing subcontractor reduces stakeholder risk by providing verified evidence of adherence to the highest standards and best practices.”
