ELEMA announced that it has acquired CPA Structural Glass. The move increases ELEMA’s structural services offerings to provide collaborative expertise and unique insight into complex technical project issues.
Designed by FABG Architects with structural glazing from CPA, the expansion of the Cirque du Soleil workshop in Montreal features a skylight in the form of an inverted cone fabricated from a laminated conically shaped glass panel.

The two firms have worked together in the past on projects such as the restoration of the Grand Théâtre de Québec, the Musée de Pointe-à-Callière’s glass floor and Montreal’s Complexe Desjardins’ canopies on Sainte-Catherine Street.
“CPA joining our team has been a long-time aspiration for our partners,” says Félix Bédard, vice president and co-founder of ELEMA. “We foresee exceptional project opportunities combining their vast experience in structural glass and our reputation for structural creativity.”
President of CPA Béthanie Cloutier will join ELEMA as a structural glass specialist engineer. CPA vice president Marc Bilodeau will contribute on a consultant basis.
CPA was founded in 2000 as a subsidiary of Cloutier Powney and associates. The company is known for its new glass system designs, its development of mullioned and frameless facades and the use of glass as a load-bearing element, according to the announcement.
The acquisition “will allow us to expand the structural glass engineering service offering at the national level while bringing in new talent in the field of glass engineering,” says Cloutier.
