Vos Glass, a Michigan-based glazing company, has expanded its footprint in the state following the purchase of a 59,582-square-foot facility in Grand Rapids.
The new facility, formally the home of the Sparks Belting Co., will serve as a new headquarters for Vos. The 40-year-old company provides various commercial and residential glazing services, including curtainwalls, window walls, storefronts and entrances, security glazing, and glass railings, among others.
“We moved for several reasons, the primary one being the need for more space in our shop and offices,” says president John Turner. “Vos Glass has experienced steady growth over the past number of years thanks to our incredible team, and we simply outgrew our old facility. With our additional space, we were also able to implement a computerized numerical control (CNC) machine into our fabrication process, a goal we have been working toward for a couple of years.”
Vos states that the new facility is 25,000 square feet larger than its former location at 902 Scribner. The larger facility will help the company expand operations for future growth and allow customers better access to browse through its showroom.
“We looked for almost two years before we found this location that satisfied all our requirements,” says Turner. “[Advantage Commercial Real Estate] helped us find this larger space that allows for continued growth and to serve our customers better.”
The new location will allow Vos to increase its industrial shop space and expand its fabrication department to offer more services for its commercial clients. Additionally, with the expanded square footage, the company will implement an updated CNC machine to advance its aluminum and door fabrication capabilities. According to the company, it is the first glazing company in the region to make that investment.
Dave Rapp, Advantage’s senior vice president, which helped Vos in the hunt for a new location, says that the process was lengthy but worthwhile.
“Our objective was to help Vos stay in the city and add significantly more square footage under one roof,” says Rapp. “We believe the Stahl Drive location, with easy access to 28th Street and I-96, will serve them well for another 40 years.”
Vos has provided glazing services to an array of West Michigan buildings, including the Acrisure headquarters in downtown Grand Rapids, the Van Andel Institute, the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, and more.
