ICC Publishes New Guide on Energy Efficiency, Greenhouse Gas Resources

The International Code Council (ICC) has published a new guide on building performance standards (BPS) and energy codes. The resource, Energy Codes and Building Performance Standards: Supporting Energy Use and Emissions Reductions in Buildings, is ICC’s newest guide on energy efficiency and greenhouse gas resources.

The guide helps building code departments and code officials make efficient use of energy across the entire lifecycle of a building. It also helps readers understand the background and benefits of BPS, gain clarification on enacted policies, and more.

“The Code Council recognizes the growing interest in building performance standards to support the achievement of energy and greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals targeting jurisdictions’ existing building stock,” says Ryan Colker, vice president of innovation.

The guide was written by various energy experts, including designers, engineers, trade associations, research organizations and government officials. It is the latest in a series established in 2021 to provide a framework to support energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reductions.
