Gateway Extrusions Celebrates 20-Year Milestone

The new year ushers in a milestone for Gateway Extrusions as the national aluminum fabricator celebrates its 20th anniversary.

The company opened in 2003 following the acquisition of the now-shuttered Cupples Aluminum Products plant by Gateway’s parent company, Crystal Window & Door Systems.

Gateway officials say the company’s reach has grown from simply supplying Crystal Window & Door Systems with products to shipping two-thirds of its sales to other companies.

“Gateway has achieved steady growth in the past 20 years, and we are not slowing down,” says general manager Brent Robb. “Our sales efforts have made great inroads in the Midwest and East Coast, and we are now expanding in the southeastern U.S. New equipment is coming this year, and new automation software will enhance our efficiency and increase capacity. These are exciting times for Gateway.”

Gateway officials say the company’s reach has grown from simply supplying Crystal with products to shipping two-thirds of its sales to other companies. Gateway has also expanded from a regional operation to a national supplier.

In recent years, Gateway has added to its distribution capabilities. This includes a $15-million expansion to its Union, Mo., facility, adding industrial buildings and properties. It also added 7-inch and 9-inch extrusion presses and a vertical powder coating line, expanded and renovated factory space and re-engineered workflow.

Gateway employs 101 workers at its Union plant and plans to add employees this year as sales grow.
