If you plan to travel to Glass Performance Days (GPD), taking place June 13-16, 2023, in Tampere, Finland, and want to learn about the latest trends and technologies in high-rise construction, a seminar in Helsinki might interest you.
The High Rise-Northern Exposure seminar takes place on June 13 and is supported by GPD, the Glass Innovation Institute and the Finnish Flat Glass Association. The program is aimed at local architects, structural designers, builders and decision-makers. Attendees will be able to meet Finnish architects and learn about Finnish architecture.
“We will focus on issues that architects, structural engineers and builders in Finland will face,” says Christoph Timm, SOM New York’s chief designer. “During the day, everyone will have the opportunity to learn something new about the construction of the future, as more and more very tall buildings will be built in Finland in the future.”
The keynote speakers will be Timm and James O’Callaghan, founding partner of Eckersley O’Callaghan. Steve Selkowitz from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory will also speak. He has extensive knowledge of the glass industry, carbon emissions and energy efficiency.
Session topics include using fire-resistant glass in high-rises, different façade technologies, new design options for photovoltaics, glazing mistakes and solutions, worldwide glazing trends and more.
Registration is now open.
