Glass Expo Northeast™ ’22 (GENE) attendees and exhibitors staying extra days in New York should take note that the Long Island Marriott is less than an hour away from the Big Apple for those interested in visiting.

A variety of transportation options are available from the Long Island Marriott to New York City. Rome2Rio provides different options such as bus, car, train, taxi, and subway fares. Click here for more information. Long Island also has an expansive local tourist area containing several attractions for those visiting out of state and wanting to stay local.

Cradle of Aviation Museum (0.6 miles from Long Island Marriott)

The Cradle of Aviation Museum offers visitors the chance to discover more than 75 air and spacecraft, from a hot air balloon to an actual Apollo Lunar Module. You can also learn about Long Island’s role and why it is called the Cradle of Aviation. The museum’s eight exhibit galleries are in chronological order, with volunteer guides throughout to share their aerospace experience. There are also more than 30 hands-on exhibits, a half dozen cockpits to climb into and many short films.

Firefighters Museum and Education Center (0.8 miles from Long Island Marriott)

The Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center provides a unique setting for preserving and interpreting local volunteer fire services heritage via the collection, restoration, and exhibition of historical and contemporary memorabilia and equipment. One of its goals is to educate and inform the public about fire safety and prevention and to display the history of volunteer firefighting in Nassau County. The visitor center is open Saturday through Sunday, 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. There’s also a café and museum store.

Eisenhower Park (1 mile from Long Island Marriott)

Eisenhower Park is a 930-acre “oasis of open space and recreation” and is one of the largest public spaces in the New York metropolitan area – even larger than Central Park. The park offers a full range of athletic and family activities, including a major golf facility, dozens of athletic fields and courts, picnic areas and fitness trails.

These are just a few of the things you can do without traveling too far from GENE, and of course, Long Island is world-famous for its beaches and wineries.
