More than 1,300 square feet of decorative glass panels adorn the lobby of a new medical facility in Pasco, Washington.
The orange panels, supplied by Sto Corp. and installed by Axiom Construction and Consulting, provide a pop of color in Columbia Basin Health Association’s newest medical clinic. The StoVentec floor-to-ceiling glass panels encase the elevator shaft in the first-floor lobby, giving the building owners a brand statement via design accents.
According to Sto officials, the installation was more complicated than expected. Several skywalks converged at the elevator. Handrails on the adjacent stairs also limited the space. These considerations left the installation team with less than 2 inches of clearance to maneuver the glass panels.
Officials note that even transporting the glass panels into the lobby through the curtainwall openings on the front of the building was tricky. Once the installers made it into the building and guided the panels into the 2-inch gap, they had to build a 40-foot wall of 6-foot glass panels stacked end-to-end.
