Riou Glass has acquired Vidresif, a Spain-based glazing manufacturer. The acquisition is the second largest for Riou and allows the company to enter the Spanish market.

Company officials say the move is part of a development plan that includes making inroads into the Spanish sector. This enables France-based Riou to increase its market share in the country while offering clients based in Spain and just over the border with France an enhanced product lineup.

“We are delighted to welcome Vidresif and its teams to Riou,” says president Riou Feron. “The strategic alliance reflects our determination to grow Riou in Europe further. Vidresif’s expertise, consolidated within a single, ultra-modern site, is an undeniable asset. We can now offer Spanish companies and our French customers a stronger value proposition.”

Vidresif is based in Porqueres. It has annual sales of $26 million with a workforce of 115. Riou has a network of 23 industrial sites located throughout Europe. It manufactures and processes 100,000 tons of flat glass yearly.
