AGC Glass Europe announced it will carry out the cold repair of its float glass line in Cuneo (Piedmont, Italy), an investment of approximately 25 million euros ($27.9 million).

The refurbishment includes design improvements the company claims “will significantly boost the plant’s capacity and reduce its energy consumption, with a corresponding positive impact on its yield and product quality.”

Improved environmental performance will make the plant eligible for the energy certification system operated by the Italian government, with subsidies granted over a five-year period in proportion to the energy savings achieved, according to a release from AGC.
