AGC Glass Europe recently released its annual sustainability report. According to the company, the total energy output of its on-site photovoltaic installations reached 6,697 megawatt hours in 2016.

The company has reduced its direct CO2 emissions by 11 percent since 2002, the reports states. And from 1998 to 2016, AGC Glass Europe reduced its water consumption by 71 percent. It also says approximately 98 percent of its solid waste is further recycled or recovered on site by its suppliers or contractors. Additionally, AGC Glass Europe recycles approximately 1 million metric tons of cullet per year.

“We have developed a holistic approach to fully assess our environmental footprint,” AGC said in an announcement regarding the report. “Life Cycle Analysis, measurement of carbon footprint and the Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM program for products are the three ways used to assess our integrated environmental approach.”

It adds, “For each [metric ton] of CO2 emitted by AGC Glass Europe activities, nearly 10 [metric tons] of CO2 are saved thanks to the use of our products.”
